吳尚霖出生並居住於台北，策展人、視覺藝術創作者及自由撰稿人，從事攝影、錄像、行為等跨領域創作。2000畢業於國立臺灣藝術大學美術系(學士)，2007年於法國第戎高等藝術學院取得國家高等藝術表現文憑DNSEP(碩士)，近幾年分別於法國巴黎東京宮，韓國京畿道創作中心、泰國藝術大學(Silpalkorn University) 等機構駐地創作及研究。他關注當代社會人的移動與環境變遷的問題，於2013年開始營運「阿斯匹靈計畫」以策展工作室進行展覽及國際交流活動。尚霖的創作探討當代城市在其不斷擴張的背景下所產生的問題，透過彼此觀點的討論與交流，呈現不同個體對其當下處境所選擇的應對方式。近期重要展出如 2019 高雄市立美術館 & 韓國京畿道現代美術館的國際雙邊交流展，流浪的種子：移動與遷徙-從地方到他方的故事 (策展)、2015-2016高雄駁二藝術特區&韓國光州雙年展館、河流-轉換中的生存之道/亞洲當代藝術連線 (策展)、2013 齁空間、絕對空間、海馬迴光畫館等替代空間及台南市區，微光-亞洲當代工業圖景 (策展) 、2014 全羅南道大潭美術館，家景/潭陽（個展）、 2012 台北當代藝術館，畢業照 - 不一樣就是不一樣 (個展)、2016 台北松山文創園區，松菸原創基地節 - 我・看見真實的自己 (聯展)、2010 巴黎網球場國家藝廊的錄像展 偽同語-一個昭生暮死的錄像圖錄 (聯展)。
우상린(Shang-Lin Wu)은 타이베이를 기반으로 활동하는 독립 큐레이터이자 시각 예술가, 프리랜서 에디터이다.
그는 2000년 국립타이완예술대학교(BFA)를 졸업한 뒤, 2007년 프랑스 디종 국립고등미술학교(DNSEP)를 마쳤다. 최근 몇 년간 그는 한국(경기창작센터), 대만(타이베이 아티스트 빌리지), 일본(ARCUS 프로젝트), 태국(실파콘 대학교) 등지에서 레지던시 프로그램에 참여하며 작업을 이어왔다.
근래의 작업에서 우상린은 현대 도시의 끊임없는 팽창이 야기하는 구조적 긴장과 사회적 균열을 성찰의 대상으로 삼는다. 그는 타인과의 사적 경험을 교환하고, 그 속에서 각자가 직면한 현실을 어떻게 인식하고 견디며, 나아가 재구성하는지를 다층적으로 탐색한다. 도시라는 거대한 시스템 속에서 개인이 겪는 불확실성과 생존의 전략은, 그의 작업 안에서 하나의 서사로 축적된다.
주요 전시 이력으로는 2018–2019년 기획한 『Wandering Seeds: 이동과 이주 – 한 장소에서 다른 장소로의 이야기』(국립대만선사박물관, 타이베이 식물원, 가오슝시립미술관, 경기도미술관)가 있으며, 2015–2016년 『Rivers – 전환기의 삶 / 아시아 동시대 예술 네트워크』(가오슝 Pier-2 아트센터, 광주비엔날레 제1전시관), 2012년 개인전 『졸업사진 – Difference is Different』(타이베이 현대미술관), 『False Friends, An Ephemeral Video Library』(프랑스 파리 국립 Jeu de Paume 미술관, 콩코르드관, 2010), 『Rear Windows』(타이베이 현대미술관, 2010) 등이 있다.
Shang-Lin Wu, is an independent curator, visual artist and freelancer editor, lives and works currently in Taipei. After graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts (BFA) in 2000, National School of Fine Art, Dijon(DNSEP) in 2007. In the recent years, Wu has traveled and worked as an artist-in-residence in Korea (Gyeonggi Creative Center), Taiwan (Taipei Artist Villages) and Japan (Arcus Project), Thailand (Silpalkorn University). The main message he would like to deliver through his work accomplished during this period, is to discuss various problems caused by the constant expansion of modern cities. By exchanging personal prospective with his interlocutors, he presents different aspects of the method everyone chooses to deal with the current situation.

현대 사회에서 사람들은 옷차림과 외모를 통해 자신의 취향이나 직업을 표현하며, 민족적‧문화적 정체성은 점점 더 표면에서 드러나지 않게 되었다. 본 프로젝트는 2023년 화롄의 굿언더그라운드 예술공간(Good Underground Art Space) 레지던시에서 진행한 《초상의 정체성(Portraits of Identity)》과 최근 기룽 바도 고등학교 원주민 실험반 졸업생들과의 협업을 바탕으로 한다.
이 작업은 전통 의상과 일상복을 모두 착용한 원주민 청소년들의 초상으로 구성되어 있으며, 인터뷰와 촬영 과정을 통해 젊은 세대가 자신의 문화적 유산과 전통 복장을 어떻게 이해하고 정체화하는지를 탐색한다. 초상 사진을 유형학적인 방식으로 제시함으로써, 전통과 현대의 복식이 정체성을 어떻게 드러내는지를 관객이 직접 마주하도록 유도한다.
現代社會人們透過穿著打扮表現個人品味或職業，個人的族裔及文化身份因此在外觀上顯得隱性。此計畫結合2023年於花蓮好地下藝術空間的駐地創作「身分肖像」，及今年與基隆市八斗高中原住民實驗班畢業班合作，拍攝一系列原住民青少年穿著族服及生活服飾的肖像。此計畫希望能夠透過訪談及肖像拍攝討論年輕世代對自己文化身分認同及傳統服飾的了解，同時透過類型學攝影的對照方式，讓觀者直視傳統與現代服飾在身分的顯現上所帶來的差異。
In contemporary society, people express their personal taste or profession through clothing and appearance, making their ethnic and cultural identities less visible on the surface. This project brings together works from the 2023 residency project Portraits of Identity at Hualien’s Good Underground Art Space, and a recent collaboration with the graduating class of the Indigenous Experimental Program at Ba-dou Senior High School in Keelung. The series features portraits of Indigenous youth wearing both traditional attire and everyday clothing. Through interviews and portrait sessions, the project explores how the younger generation understands and identifies with their cultural heritage and traditional dress. By presenting the portraits in a typological format, the work invites viewers to confront the contrasts between traditional and contemporary clothing in the expression of identity.
